Christmas Party Planning FAQ’s

• When do I need to make my booking?

  Plan ahead – Christmas is our busiest time and already the peak times in November and December are filling up. In order to secure your preferred date, BOOK NOW by paying a $450 deposit (call 0800 262 844 or email bookings@ultimatecharters.co.nz)

• How many people can we take?

  Ultimate Charters large group boat ‘Koru’ is Auckland’s largest fishing charter boat, capable of hosting up to 40 guests + crew. While we fish up to 25 people at one time, there is plenty of space upstairs for people to take a break and enjoy the view

• Do you offer any options other than fishing?

  Ultimate Charters is best known for it’s fishing charters, however we also offer other great experiences on the water! Choose from a harbour cruise through to spending a relaxing fun-filled afternoon in a sheltered bay swimming or simply chilling out with the stereo on, bar open and BBQ grilling!

• How much does it cost?

  We have a few different options to choose from depending on the day of the week, charter optional items such as catering etc. Call us to get a custom quote or check out pricing for our large group Fishing Charters here, or harbour cruises here

• Why Choose Ultimate Charters for your Christmas party?

  There’s nothing like a day out on the water in good company. Ultimate Charters leads the way in customer service to ensure you and your group have the best experience possible, from learning new fishing tips and tricks to being waited on with catering

• How long are the charters?

  Our fishing charters during the summer period are 6hrs, with the option to depart at 7am (returning 1pm) or depart at 3pm (returning 9pm). Harbour cruises are three hours long with the start time from 3pm onward

• Can we bring our own food?

  Yes absolutely – you are welcome to bring your own food along, with the option to hire our large BBQ (BBQ hire includes us providing sauce, napkins, cutlery and paper plates. If you would rather we take care of the catering, just let us know – we have ‘lunchbox’ options from $30 per person, or fully cooked BBQ meals and snacks from $45

• Can we BYO alcohol?

  Yes you can bring alcohol on board if it has been arranged and agreed to prior. One of our barmen will serve your drinks to you and as a licensed venue we have rules to abide by. Call us for more information on BYO alcohol

• Is there a fridge on board?

  No fridge but we do have chilly bins with ice loaded ready when you step on board

• Is there a sound system on the boat we can use?

  Yes absolutely – you can use the boat stereo by connecting with Bluetooth

• Is there a toilet on board?

  Yes there are, two in fact. These are regular domestic toilets like you would find at home

Exit Lockdown in style with an Ultimate Weekend away - 1hr North of Auckland

Day 1 - Friday

• 6am - Meet at agreed Auckland location to transfer via private shuttle to Omaha

• 7.15am – Depart Omaha on an Offshore lure fishing trip in the outer gulf

• 3pm - Return to Omaha & transfer to Matakana Smokehouse for a brief tour & sample

• 4pm - Check in to accommodation @ Matakana Motel

• 6pm - Walk around the corner to Matakana Village pub for dinner and a beer

Day 2 – Saturday

• 8.30am - Walk to Matakana Village Market for a coffee, bite to eat and a wander. Whitebait fritter and a croque monsieur sound good?

• 10am - Transfer to Omaha Boat Ramp & depart on a half-day soft-bait tutorial or inshore fishing session

• 3pm - Cruise to Kawau Boating Club 3pm for a beer looking out over Bon Accord Harbour

• 5pm - Return to Omaha 5pm and transfer back to accommodation

• 6.30pm - Head out for dinner and celebratory drink or two (shuttle available if required) at one of the great local options @ MCK, Sawmill brewery, Plume, Jin Jin, 8 Wired Brewery etc.

Day 3 – Sunday

• 9am - Check out of accommodation and transfer back to Auckland

(or choose additional activities including round of Golf, visit to
Goat Island, Sculptureum and more)

PRICE: $1,250 per person (based on 6pax)

Inclusions: Fishing charter/s and equipment, Transfers from/to Auckland, Accommodation (twin share), Smokehouse Tour

Exclusions: Food and beverages, other entertainment

Day 1 - Saturday

• 8am - Meet at Westhaven Marina at with the boys heading off in a boat on an 8hr Offshore lure fishing charter and the gal’s transferring via private shuttle to the Matakana Market

• 9.15am – Gal’s arrive Matakana Village Market for a wander, coffee and bite to eat as a wander

• 11am – Gal’s collected from the market and head to Brick Bay to walk Sculpture Trail and then settle in for lunch and a glass or two of Brick Bay wine

• 3pm – Gal’s transfer to Matakana Motel and check-in and relax. Time for another wander around the village or relax by the pool

• 4pm - Boys return and land at Omaha Boat Ramp and transfer to Matakana Smokehouse for a brief tour & sample

• 4.45pm - Boys transfer to accommodation to meet up with the Gal’s

• 6pm - Walk around corner to Matakana Village pub for dinner

Day 2 – Sunday

• 8.30am - Lazy start to the day, grabbing breakfast in the village at one of the superb café’s

• 10am - Guys and Gal’s transfer to Omaha and depart for a tiki-tour around Kawau Island by private boat, stopping to explore Mansion House and the old Coppermine ruins before cruising to Kawau Boating Club for lunch

• 3pm - Return to Omaha 3pm and transfer via shuttle back to Auckland

PRICE: $1,500 per couple (based on 4 couples)

Inclusions: Fishing charter/s and equipment, Transfers from/to Auckland, Accommodation (2 bedroom units, 2 couples per unit), Smokehouse Tour, Brick Bay Sculpture Trail

A Baptism of Fire: Intense Work Up in our New Boat

How good are winter work ups in the Hauraki Gulf! With an intense work up of Australasian Gannets and Common Dolphins all to our own, this Ultimate Charters group was treated to some of the best snapper and kingfish lure action you could dream of.

Immediately below the surface baitfish were being harassed by hundreds of marauding kingfish and torpedoing gannets, and if you could sneak your lure past the ravenous kingies, trophy snapper lay waiting to have their turn.

Our new boat MV Gatherer is loaded with the latest and greatest Simrad electronics and without question the Simrad Halo24 radar played a key role in our success.

Mokohinau Islands - Fishing in Paradise

A very achievable day trip from Auckland (in good sea conditions), we reckon the magical Mokohinau Islands should be on all fisherman and adventurers bucket lists!

Holding inner gulf species such as snapper, kahawai, trevally and kingfish, the Mokohinau Islands also offer the chance to target a whole different range of species including Grandaddy Hapuka, Pink Maomao, Blue Maomao and more.

Of the many islands in the group, Burgess Island (large island with the lighthouse) is the one that you may land on and explore - and what a view it is from the top! Just remember to check any belongings for pests and ensure you leave it exactly as you find it. We reckon a climb to the top of Burgess Island is the perfect spot for a bite to eat and to take in the wonder of the Hauraki Gulf.
